La propuesta de la “apertura y flexibilización”, presentada por los gobiernos de Brasil y Uruguay en la cumbre extraordinaria del Mercosur el 26 de abril genera preocupación. La discusión instalada en los ámbitos oficiales de Mercosur para la ruptura de los acuerdos fundacionales de creación del espacio económico tendrá impactos amplios en diversos aspectos del futuro de la región: las dinámicas de inserción internacional, las trayectorias de desarrollo productivo y sus impactos en términos de empleo, justicia social y ambiental.
«Sin integración, no habrá salida de la crisis», los procesos regionales deben tener como principios rectores el desarrollo económico-productivo, y la consolidación y fortalecimiento de la democracia como un bien público regional.
Para entender qué significa la renuncia a construir políticas regionales comunes en aspectos claves para el fortalecimiento de nuestras democracias creamos este espacio con eventos, noticias, información y mucho más.
La Fundación Friedrich Ebert, en el marco de su Proyecto Regional Toma Partido, realizó un encuentro entre representantes de partidos políticos de izquierda y progresistas y representantes de organizaciones sindicales y sociales con incidencia en la agenda de la integración regional, que manifiestan preocupación ante las propuestas de flexibilización del Mercosur.
